Values

Democracy
  • Our student council ensures that our pupils have a voice and are heard when decision making in the school.

  • Classes work together with the teacher to establish rules and routines that promote the highest expectations.

  • Pupils are encouraged to reflect on their daily lessons, through conversations and self assessment.

  • Pupils are always listened to by adults and are taught to listen carefully and with concern to each other, respecting the right of every individual to have their opinions and voices heard.

Rule of Law
  • Class rules and expectations are established which link with the whole school expectations.

  • Links are established with our local policing team and utilised to understand wider discussions about the laws in England.

  • Assemblies focus on whole school expectations and the rules and routines of the school.

  • Consequences are fair, balanced and natural when needed and pupils are taught that actions have consequences both positive and negative.

Individual Liberty
  • Our PSHE curriculum encourages pupils to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are taught how to exercise these safely.

  • Where possible, children are given opportunities to make choices during the school day.

Mutual Respect
  • "We use Norfolk Steps approaches as a school" which encourages restorative approaches and for children to understand the impact of their behaviour.

  • The team around the pupil actively explores mutual respect with pupils and their peers and explicitly plans for opportunities for respect to be taught and practised.

  • Our school vision - being kind to ourselves, each other and our world" encourages respect between all.

  • All adults model it between each other and between themselves and the children.

Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
  • Our RE teaching celebrates different faiths and cultures.

  • Pupils are encouraged to share their family celebrations with their classmates.
